Aloe Vera LeafAloe vera gel is the most common used preparation from the leaves of the plant.  It is often used by herbalists as first aid for sunburn, wounds, and burns.  Ancient Romans and Greeks often used aloe vera gel to treat wounds received in battles.

Aloe vera gel is great for extremely dry skin.  It has anti-aging and rejuvenating properties It is also useful for treating ringworm and other fungal infections.You can also use aloe vera gel on mouth ulcers or even for insect bites.

In the past, the aloe vera has also used to help reduce blood sugar, increase bile flow, expel worms and to reduce cholesterol. 

Aloe vera is described to be moist, cool, bitter, and salty, while the leaves are described as bitter, moist, and hot.  The lower leaf of the plant is used for medicinal purpose. If the lower leaf is sliced open, the gel obtained can be applied on the affected part of your skin. Leaves and seeds are the two edible parts of Aloe Vera.
